Internship Profiles:
Mika J. Hunter

Mika at workMika HunterMika J. Hunter is senior studying Life Sciences with a specialization in Entomology at the University of Maryland. She is originally from Yardley, Pennsylvania. Mika participated in this program because she feels that “agriculture in the United States needs to move in a new direction, and education is the first step.” She wanted to have hands-on farm experience on a farm that employs nonconventional practices (such as no-till). For that reason, she worked at Cedar Meadow Farm. Moreover, Hunter also wanted to become familiar with the curriculum developmental process.

Having experience in entomology research, she studied the impact of sequential corn plantings on insect pest and beneficial populations on the Groff Farm.
