Organic Dairy Farm

Provident farm is an organic, pasture-based, diversified livestock family farm in Lycoming, and Tioga Counties. David Johnson and his family manage a cross-bred dairy herd. The cows rotationally-graze pastures containing orchardgrass, white clover, perennial ryegrass, and some other pasture species. Although the land is sloping and somewhat poorly-drained, the Johnsons are successfully and profitability producing organic milk that is sold to the Organic Valley Cooperative. The Johnsons also produce pastured poultry, eggs, and beef for their family, and for direct sales to the local community and restaurants.
